Send us a correction
One address, read by a person. Corrections are the most useful thing you can send, and medical questions are the one thing we cannot answer.
The address
Write to [email protected]. There is no form on this page, and there will not be one until there is a system behind it worth trusting with your email address — a form that posts nowhere and thanks you for subscribing is a small lie, and this site would rather have a plain address.
There is no newsletter, no list and nothing to sign up to.
What is genuinely useful to send
- A price that has moved. Every price here carries the date it was read. If a product costs something else now, tell us what and where, and we will re-read the page and date the change.
- A label or guideline that has been revised. Labels are updated quietly and guidance changes. A pointer to the new version saves us finding it late.
- A factual error. If a study says something other than what we wrote it said, that is the most important email we can get. Cite the paper if you have it to hand, and we will check it against the source rather than against our memory.
- A source request. If a sentence here is not clearly attributed and you want to know where it came from, ask. If the answer turns out to be "nowhere good enough", the sentence comes down.
What we cannot do
We cannot answer medical questions, and it would be dangerous to pretend otherwise. No one on this desk has a medical licence, nobody here has examined you, and hair loss in women has causes that need diagnosing — thyroid disease, iron deficiency, a scarring alopecia, a medicine you started — that no correspondence can distinguish between. Questions of the form "should I take X" or "what is wrong with my hair" will get a short reply saying exactly this.
We do not recommend clinics, surgeons or practitioners. We rank none, take referral fees from none, and will not name one privately either.
We do not take sponsored posts, paid placements, guest articles or link insertions. A grade on this site is not for sale, and neither is a mention.
If you are a company mentioned here
Corrections are welcome on the same terms as everyone else's: point at the specific sentence, say what is wrong, and provide the source. Published prices and label wording are quoted with the date they were read, so "that has changed" is an easy fix and a welcome email.
What will not move a grade is the argument that the grade is unfair to your marketing. The scale is published, and it measures what was tested in women, who paid for the testing, whether the price and the exit are in the open, and whether the cautions are where a buyer will see them.
Response times, honestly
This is a small desk. A correction that comes with a source usually gets dealt with quickly, because there is nothing to research. A general question may take a while, and a medical one will get the short answer above. Nothing sent here is published without asking first, and nothing sent here is added to any list, because there is no list.
Written from labels, regulators and published studies, with the read date on every fragile fact. If something here has gone out of date, tell us and it gets fixed.
